Kristen + Nathan {Engaged}

Confession time: I get a little nervous when people that I know ask me to photograph their wedding. Don’t ask me why–but it happens. Not the kind of nervous that makes medical students run to the bathroom (if you’ve ever been in the bathroom at the Huntsville prometric testing center, you know exactly what sign I’m talking about), but the kind that makes you a little bit neurotic and super duper excited all at the same time. I might have shown up 2 hours early for this session. No kidding.

But you guys…let me just tell you about this couple. I have known Kristen and Nathan for the past 3 and a half years, but it wasn’t until about a year ago that I really got to know them well. This is kind of embarrassing, but I didn’t even know they were dating until they were engaged! At first I thought I must not be good at picking up on these things, but the more I paid attention to them, the more I realized they are not the crazy-in-your-face-following-each-other-around-like-puppies kind of couple. But at the same time, their personalities complement each other perfectly, and it is so incredibly clear that they are perfect for each other.

Kristen and Nathan–I am so excited for your May wedding, and I cannot wait to see what the next 6 or 7 months have in store for you guys! Thanks so much for asking me to be a small part in your big day <3

Alix & George are Married!

Confession time: I love backyard weddings…and I’m about to show you why! In July I had the honor of shooting a beautiful summer wedding that took place in this sweet bride’s grandparent’s backyard. The entire event was such a labor of love, and I think it’s safe to say that it was wonderful from start to finish! The weather was incredible, and the details were just perfect. From the old church pews with vintage quilts, to the bouquets that were assembled by friends and family, and all of the lovely DIY details in-between, I adored every single decision Alix made!

Alix and George–I am so honored that you asked me to spend this special day with you! I enjoyed every single second of your wedding, and I can’t wait to watch you guys grow old together!

Jordan + Shane {Engaged}

I think every photographer has had one of those consultations where they just knew that the couple was going to be wonderful to work with–and this couple was no exception! When I first met Jordan + Shane (& their ADORABLE son, Easton), we sat down for coffee on a Friday afternoon after I finished up my call at the hospital. From the second they sat down, I started to get excited about their upcoming October wedding. And after their precious son started talking to me, I was sold! I think all of my couples are wonderful (and this one is no exception)…But, let’s face it–it’s not every day you get to be charmed by an adorable 3 year old! If I didn’t have baby fever before, I definitely did when I left that coffee shop. But shhhhh, don’t tell my husband.

I thoroughly enjoyed shooting this sweet and sunny engagement session last week (even if I had sweat dripping off of my elbows)! Jordan and Shane were naturals in front of the camera and made my job so, so easy. I hope you guys love your images as much as I do <3

Bart + Anna-Brooke are ENGAGED!

It’s pretty uncommon for me to sit down at my computer and not know how to start a post. But after I typed the title of this blog, I just wanted to type it over and over again. So let me get this out of my system (one more time!)–BART AND ANNA-BROOKE ARE ENGAGED!!

Anna-Brooke and I were in the same sorority in college, had lots of classes together, and she was a bridesmaid in my wedding. Despite living on the other side of the state and my crazy-busy-life that keeps me out of touch with more people than I care to admit, I still consider her one of my closest, dearest friends. She is one of the most incredible people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and over the years has meant more to me than she probably knows. When her boyfriend of a lifetime sent me a facebook message asking me to be there when he proposed, I might have screamed a little and did my signature happy dance!

On the first, longest, and (what I imagine will be the) hottest day of summer, Bart and Anna-Brooke walked around downtown Auburn. When they reached Samford lawn, he set down her cup of toomer’s lemonade, dropped to one knee, and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. It was such a beautiful and special moment, and I am so incredibly honored to have been there to capture it.

Bart & Anna-Brooke, I am over-the-moon excited for you two, and I can’t wait for your wedding! Congratulations again!

And a very special thank you to my handsome assistant (*cough* husband) for road-tripping to Auburn with me and helping capture their special day. I love you!

Love this!!! Beautiful job capturing the moment!!!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet family! We originally scheduled in November, I think…but the weather rained us out every single time we rescheduled. I’m so thankful you guys were so patient with me! The weather could not have been more perfect!
